What's the difference between hard copper tube and soft copper tube

Jun 05, 2021

Hard state copper tube is to use drawing process or extrusion process to process the air-conditioning copper tube. There is no other way to deal with it and let it form naturally. At this time, the copper tube is full in structure. The copper tube is brittle and not easy to break, so it is not suitable to bend it. This kind of hard state air-conditioning copper tube is generally straight.

However, the soft copper tube is not the same. Its processing method is basically the same as that of the hard copper tube, but some of them are different. Compared with the hard copper tube, the annealing process is added. Copper tube annealing, that is to say, the copper tube is calcined in a high temperature furnace, and the microstructure inside the copper tube will change. However, after annealing, its microstructure will become soft. In this way, the copper tube is easy to bend. At this time, we call it soft copper tube.

Because of its own reasons, hard copper tubes can only be used as straight tubes and cannot be bent, because most of them are used in power plants, switches in electrical appliances and other places. The distance between the connecting places is relatively long and cannot be bent. The price of hard copper tubes will be lower than that of soft copper tubes.

Although soft copper tube is called soft tube, sometimes it can be used as hard tube. Therefore, there will be more places to use soft copper tubes, which can be used in the way of straight tubes and coil tubes. If the coil is used, it will be longer. If the connection point is longer, it can be intercepted according to the length, so that there will be no leakage when the copper pipe is welded. Most of the soft copper tubes are used for bending, such as air conditioners and refrigerators.
